Below you will find the people, products and places I mention in this lesson as well as some film examples.
Kodak Portra 160: Left photo is when a cloud was covering the sun and right photo is a few minutes after when the sun was shining directly on the model, Valyn Dobson
Another examples of Portra 160 while the sun was shaded (left) and with direct sunlight (right)
Another Portra 160 example but this time the sun is facing the model (left) but she is in a shadow from the palm trees while the ocean is still being lit by the sun. To even out the tones, I rotated the model to face away from the sun while my assistant used a reflector to catch the sun that was coming from behind the model and reflect it back onto her so I was able to still capture a vibrant photo.
Left is Portra 160 35mm film and the right is E100
E100 is very sensitive to light and needs to be perfectly balanced for a good shot. Left photo is over exposed vs the right photo that is perfectly exposed.
Lenses: Left is a Sigma 70-300mm which I love for tight portraits with super soft backgrounds. Right is a Nikon 28-70mm which the lens I use most often with great detail
